Maranta Beauty Kim Care Guide

About Maranta Beauty Kim

Maranta Beauty Kim (Maranta leuconeura) is a lovely, variegated plant with lush leaves highlighted by dark green markings. It’s also known as Maranta leuconeura kerchoveana, or Rabbit’s Foot Prayer Plant, because the pattern on its foliage resembles rabbit tracks. This gorgeous tropical plant is a cultivar of the prayer plant (Maranta leuconeura), native to the rainforests of Brazil. It thrives as an outdoor plant in USDA hardiness zones 10-11.

This indoor plant is relatively easy-care, growing best in warm, humid indoor environments.

The Green Maranta Leuconeura is non-toxic and suitable for homes with pets. Part of the prayer plant family, it gets its name for the way its leaves move throughout the day – folding in the evening as if in prayer, and opening at first morning light.

The Maranta Green Prayer Plant is associated with symbolic meanings of thankfulness, personal growth, and new beginnings.

Other stunning Maranta varieties include the colorful Red Prayer Plant and the vibrant Lemon Lime Prayer Plant.

Prayer Plant: Benefits

Maranta Plant Care: Growing Tips

Caring for a Maranta Plant is relatively simple. Here are the most essential Maranta Leuconeura care tips to keep your plant thriving and healthy:

Maranta Beauty Kim: Light Requirements & Temperature

  • Light: Medium to bright indirect light is perfect for this prayer plant. Protect your Green Maranta from direct sunlight to avoid scorching.
  • Temperature: Stable, warm temperatures of 60°F to 75°F are best for your Prayer Plant Maranta. Keep it away from cold drafts.

Beauty Kim Maranta: Watering & Humidity

  • Watering: Water your Maranta Prayer Plant thoroughly and then wait until the top few inches dry before watering. Water with distilled or filtered water.
  • Humidity: Maranta Beauty Kim prefers higher-than-average humidity. Mist its leaves regularly, place it together with other plants, or use a humidifier to increase humidity.

Maranta Beauty Kim: Soil, Fertilizer, and Repotting

  • Soil: Maranta plants need well-draining soil that retains moisture. Use a mix of potting soil, peat, perlite, and compost.
  • Fertilizer: Feed your prayer plant monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during spring and summer. Dilute the fertilizer to half strength.
  • Repotting: Maranta Beauty Kim is a slow grower. Repot every 2-3 years into a slightly bigger pot with well-draining soil.

Maranta Leuconeura: Propagation

Division is the easiest method for Maranta Leuconeura propagation. Alternatively, propagate with stem cuttings placed in water.

Green Maranta Plant: Common Problems

Yellowing leaves show that you’re probably overwatering your Maranta Plant. Lack of humidity and insufficient watering lead to crisp leaf edges and curling leaves.

One of the Maranta Leuconeura benefits is that it requires minimal pruning. Simply remove any wilted or damaged leaves.
