Pink Princess Philodendron Care Guide

About Pink Princess Philodendron

The Philodendron Pink Princess (Philodendron erubescens) is a striking tropical plant, native to South and Central America. Hence, it thrives in warm climates (hardiness zones 9-11). Known for its stunning pink-and-green variegated leaves, it’s loved by collectors and plant enthusiasts who enjoy its exotic-looking greenery.

Philodendron Pink Princess care is considered moderately easy; however, even novice gardeners will find it a joyful and rewarding experience to grow.

This philodendron is toxic to pets, so keep it out of reach of your furry companions. The Pink Princess is associated, symbolically, with creativity and affection, making it an ideal romantic gift. I

For collectors, other Royal philodendrons include the Philodendron White Princess and Philodendron Prince of Orange.

Philodendron Pink Princess Care: Growing Tips

Pink Princess Philodendron care is not hard, as long as you pay attention to this plant’s light, watering, and humidity needs.

Philodendron Pink Princess: Light Requirements & Temperature

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light, which is required for strong variegation. Direct sunlight can harm the foliage, while low light can cause pale, weak leaves.
  • Temperature: Your Pink Princess plant needs to be in a warm room, protected from cold drafts, which can cause stress. Ideally, temperatures should be between 65°F and 85°F.

Philodendron Pink Princess: Humidity & Watering

  • Watering: Water weekly in normal indoor conditions and adjust your routine to the humidity, light, and seasonal changes. Always allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry completely before watering the plant again.
  • Humidity: This gorgeous philodendron loves high humidity (about 60-80%). It makes a perfect bathroom plant for that reason.

Pink Princess Philodendron: Soil, Fertilizer, and Repotting

  • Soil: Always use well-draining soil that provides both water retention and air circulation. Add perlite or bark if necessary to ensure good drainage.
  • Fertilizer: Feed the plant during spring and summer with a balanced fertilizer. Be careful not to overfeed it to prevent leaf damage and burning the roots.
  • Repotting: Repot your Philodendron Pink Princess every 2 years or when the roots start to outgrow the container. Refresh the soil and monitor the plant in the first few days to notice any signs of transplant shock.

Pink Princess Philodendron: Propagation

To multiply your Pink Princess Philodendron and grow new plants, take strong stem cuttings with a few healthy leaves and place them in a vase with water. Change the water weekly, and soon roots will form. Plant the baby philodendrons in soil and place them in a warm spot with indirect light.

Pink Princess Philodendron: Problems and Pruning

Common problems include overwatering, which can cause root issues and yellow leaves. Brown tips are the result of direct sunlight, overfeeding, and low humidity. Low-light conditions will affect the beautiful pink variegation of this rare plant
