Neon Pothos Care Guide

About Neon Pothos

The Neon Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) is a tropical vining houseplant with beautiful, bright neon-green foliage. This climbing and hanging beauty is native to Southeast Asia and thrives in warm and humid climate zones (10-11). It’s a fast-growing Pothos variety that adds instant greenery to any indoor or outdoor space.

This cheerful plant is easy-going, ideal for novice plant lovers and people with busy lifestyles. Keep it out of the reach of cats and dogs because the Neon Pothos is not pet-friendly.

Other popular Pothos plants include the stunning variegated Marble Queen Pothos and the much-loved Pearls and Jade Pothos. All Pothos plants are considered lucky, especially the Golden Pothos.

Pothos Plant: Benefits

Neon Pothos Plant Care: Growing Tips

Learn how to care for Neon Pothos with our expert growing tips below to ensure this beauty rewards you with its bright-green foliage for years:

Neon Pothos: Light Requirements & Temperature

  • Light: Bright or medium indirect light is ideal for the Neon Pothos plant. Direct sunlight can cause sunburn, while low light will affect its bright-green foliage.
  • Temperature: Provide your Neon Pothos with a warm, comfortable environment with temperatures ranging from 65°F to 85°F.

Pothos Neon: Watering & Humidity

  • Watering: Water your Neon Pothos when the top inches of the soil feel dry to the touch. Hydrate it less frequently in the winter months.
  • Humidity: The Neon Green Pothos prefers high humidity. Use a humidifier or a pebble tray; you can also mist the plant occasionally on a hot day.

Neon Pothos Plant: Soil, Fertilizer, and Repotting

  • Soil: Use potting soil with good drainage to prevent root rot. Ensure the pot has enough drainage holes, too.
  • Fertilizer: For the best Neon Pothos care, feed your plant with a balanced fertilizer monthly in the spring and summer.
  • Repotting: Repot your Pothos Neon every 2 years into a pot slightly larger than the previous one.

Neon Pothos: Propagation

To propagate your Pothos, use healthy stem cuttings and place them in a jar of water, which should be changed weekly. Alternatively, you can plant the cuttings directly in moist soil, where they will produce strong roots within a few weeks.

Pothos Neon: Problems and Pruning

Yellow leaves are a sign of overwatering and potential root rot issues. Full sun exposure and low humidity can cause brown leaf tips. Always trim damaged foliage to encourage new growth and maintain your Neon Pothos plant’s beautiful, bushy shape. Address insects promptly to avoid serious harm to your plant.

Neon Pothos: Companion Plants & Placement Options

The Neon Pothos is a stunning vining plant with bright leaves that contrast beautifully with any houseplant, characterised by darker foliage. Pair it with tropical varieties that boast bold, deep-green, or multicoloured leaves.

Great to Place on

The Neon Pothos can transform vertical spaces, hanging from a shelf or a macrame planter. Or you may want to train it up a trellis against a blank wall. Its love for high humidity makes it an ideal plant for bathrooms, as well.
