Product Description

Peperomia tetraphylla 'Hope'

Bright indirect light.

SM: ~6" long and a 4" pot.

Pro-tip: This plant is semi-drought tolerant, so err on the drier side and slow down waterings in winter.

Peperomia Hope Care Guide

About Peperomia Hope

Peperomia Hope (Peperomia tetraphylla ‘Hope’) is a tropical trailing plant prized for its small, round, succulent-like leaves that grow along slender stems in a graceful cascading pattern. A hybrid of two Peperomia varieties, this charming houseplant combines beauty with easy care, making it perfect for beginners and experienced plant parents. Native to Central and South America, it thrives in USDA hardiness zones 10-12 when grown outdoors, but is most often enjoyed as an indoor plant.

This Peperomia Hope plant can grow 8-12 inches tall with trailing stems extending over a foot, making it ideal for hanging baskets, shelves, or tabletop accents. With a long lifespan when well cared for, it offers year-round greenery without being demanding. Known for its low-maintenance needs, Peperomia Hope care is simple. This variety enjoys bright, indirect light, occasional watering, and a bit of extra humidity.

Completely non-toxic to pets and children, this Hope Peperomia is a worry-free choice for households with curious cats, dogs, or little ones. For a lush, textured display, pair it with other Peperomia plant varieties like the Peperomia Watermelon or the Peperomia Rosso.’

Peperomia Hope Care: Growing Tips

The Peperomia Hope plant is an easy-care tropical variety that adapts well to most indoor spaces. With a bit of attention to light, watering, and soil, this plant will thrive and keep its lush, trailing foliage fresh year-round.

Peperomia Hope: Light Requirements & Temperature

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light for best growth. It will tolerate medium light, but too little can cause leggy stems and fewer leaves. Avoid direct sun.
  • Temperature: Keep your Hope Peperomia in a warm environment between 65°F and 80°F. Protect it from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 55°F.

Peperomia Hope: Watering & Humidity

  • Watering: Let the top 1-2 inches of soil dry before watering again. The semi-succulent leaves store moisture, so overwatering can lead to root rot.
  • Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity but tolerates average indoor levels. If your home is dry, occasional misting or a nearby humidity tray can help maintain healthy leaves.

Peperomia Hope: Soil, Fertilizer, and Repotting

  • Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark to prevent soggy roots.
  • Fertilizer: Feed every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Skip feeding in fall and winter.
  • Repotting: This plant has a small root system and prefers being slightly root-bound. Repot every 2-3 years or when roots grow through the drainage holes.

Peperomia Hope: Propagation

Peperomia tetraphylla ‘Hope’ is easy to propagate from stem cuttings. Take a 4-6 inch cutting with at least a few leaves, remove the lower leaves, and root it in water or directly in moist, well-draining soil. Keep the cutting in bright, indirect light until roots come.

Peperomia Hope Plant: Common Problems

Overwatering this relatively drought-tolerant plant is the most common issue, often leading to root rot or yellowing leaves. Too little light may cause leggy stems, while low humidity can result in browning leaf edges. Trim any damaged or discolored leaves with clean scissors to keep the plant looking its best.

Incredibly easy

I received this one in my November mystery box. Two months later and I am already seeing new growth! I'm not very good with houseplants so this progress makes me so happy. I just repotted, placed it directly under a window and set an alarm to remind myself to water as directed and tada!

Peperomia Hope

This was the plant that got me to the rooted website, because I’ve been wanting one. It was a little small, but is beautiful! I’ve lost two leaves, but not sure if it’s related to my cats messing with it or another issue, to be determined! There is also some new growth :)

Cute

Love this one because it’s different and cute. Wanted one where it will eventually hang down. A couple leaves/petals fell off during the shipping process but already seeing new ones grow after re-potting.

Adorable little plant!

This is my first time owning Peperomia with the baby rubber plant and this Peperomia “Hope”. The “Hope” plant has wonderful succulent like leaves. It’s already starting to put out new growth.
